Tarot Spread: Three Options

It’s always good to have multiple options, or so we thought. Sometimes we find it rather difficult to make a choice, especially if it’s something that has major impact on our lives. Perhaps it’s because none of the options are ideal or perhaps we are just not ready to find out what consequences a certain choice might really bring us. It would be nice if we could peak into the future, then we will always be able to make the right decision.

Although Tarot card isn’t like a time machine that shows us what our future literally looks like, it gives great insights on the situations we find ourselves in. This Three Option Tarot Spread will do just that: to help shed some light on each option we have at hand.

Close your eyes, focus on your breathing for a few minutes, ask the question in your head, or out-loud, then open your eyes and assign your choices however you feel fit, to each card.

Choice #1: The Empress

The Empress is the symbol of the feminine principle, the queen of all queens, princesses and goddesses, she is nurturing, fertile and a provider. This card has strong creative energy and suggests realisation of creations. It is the supreme card of love, fertility and family. It also reflects your experience as a woman or with other women.

The open background was taken from a painting by Delacroix, it represents a sea of possibilities. The orb in The Empress‘ left hand symbolises the challenge to claim this vast land for oneself and to take command of it. The lily sceptre in her right hand is a symbol of fertility and virility. The stars around her crown elevates her above the sea of possibilities.

This card is all about living the fruitful life, you’re encouraged to become rulers of your own destiny and to take responsibilities for your own fortune. It also suggests an incredible gift for harnessing interpersonal relationship to yield success and harmony.

🤍This choice is a positive affirmation of your hopes and goals, however, it might be a foreshadowing of unintended or unanticipated consequence affecting your final fruition. There’re very strong external forces at play here in your overall situation. If you could establish and follow the rules that underpin your well-being, take charge of your daily life, then you will be happy and feel good with this choice.

Choice #2: Ace of Coins (Rev.)

This card emphasises the double nature of human beings, just like the two sides of a coin, representing the influences on our characters: on one side, we have our experiences and expectations, on the other, future events and results. Each person possesses special talents and handicaps, by accepting all that we are made of, we will discover and develop our strengths. Instead of whether or not, the bigger question should be, how do you see your role in the world? What are your values? Do you want to take the easy way out or put in the hard work? Recognise the power within yourself, remember that our talents become clearer in the face of huge challenges.

🤍This choice will likely lead to lost opportunities and missed chances. While the potential is there for a new venture, you’re either being blocked from fulfilling the potential or you’ve lost the opportunity. Of course there’ll be gains from this choice as well, just like the two sides of the coin, but the gains from this choice will not bring you happiness and will feel too small. It will only give you a fake sense of security and will eventually be dissatisfying.

Choice #3: Ten of Coins

The Ten of Coins is the card of magical moments, it portrays the joy of living, the best results, proliferating talents and great wealth. This card also represents a thriving family business or acquisition of power through family alliances. Here we can see there is a strong orientation on family fortune and good pedigree, it could signal that this pinnacle of success is likely achieved through family connections or is built on family fortunes.

We already know that mostly, individual success cannot be achieved in isolation, so if you managed to find the bridge to others, opportunities will follow and loneliness will disappear along with it. However we also need to bear in mind the danger of drowning in the crowds. The most difficult task is to keep the balance. While heralding new opportunities, everything will become unnecessarily limiting if they’re based on sacrificing our independence and individuality. It’s great to enjoy the “communal bath” as portrayed in the card (painting The Turkish Bath, 1863) and benefits from our connections, we need to stay walking on our own paths with pride and joy.

🤍This choice leads to the end of the path, which is full of joy, legacy, culmination of life’s journeys, and fulfilment results from hard work in all of life’s facets.
